With the end of the Nvidia CES 2017 keynote and the reveal of a new Mass Effect Andromeda Gameplay Trailer I want to take the opportunity to write a little preview for one of the most anticipated games of March 2017.
Mass Effect Andromeda will take place 600 years after the events of the original trilogy. During the second Mass Effect game the Andromeda Initiative was founded to discover a new world for the human and other species by sending out different capital ships with representatives of each species, like arches.
We are playing as one of the pathfinders that were sent out on board of these massive arches to discover new planets for the human race.
The story of Mass effect Andromeda surely has potential, the concept of the human race which are seen as “aliens” in this new Andromeda galaxy could lead into some interesting dialogue about the problems of colonization etc.
Let´s see what Bioware does with it.
According to Bioware, Mass Effect Andromeda will be the biggest Mass Effect game ever made featuring discoverable planets, a dynamic Combat-System, a vibrant story and a Multiplayer.
Even tho Mass Effect Andromeda will feel like a „classic“-Mass Effect, Bioware introduced some major changes to the Combat System and its speed.
One of the biggest changes will be the possibility to change your class between the well known classics like Engineer or Soldier and all the other classes during the whole game „on the fly“ like shown in the CES 2017 gameplay trailer.
This introduces a massive amount of variation since you aren´t nailed down to one particular class and its playstyle anymore, which will allow you to create your own way of fighting.
So you will be able to skill all the abilities of all the classes at the same time building your perfect hero, sounds pretty awesome right?
But that´s not everything new Bioware brings to Mass Effect Andromeda. With the implamentation of a Jetpack and the Dashing-Feature the combat gets a significant speed-up which is observable in every gameplay trailer revealed yet.
It allows you to survive without taking cover since you can easily dodge the enemy shots which breaks up with the classic Combat system that we all know so well.
Mass Effect Andromeda looks faster, smoother and far away from the Cover-Shooter Mass Effect used to be. It surely looks like a very intense and action packed combat that would truly be a step forward for the franchise.
Ye, I´m pretty hyped about it!
With our ship the Tempest we will be able to travel to many planets in the Andromeda galaxy which will be fully explorable and every planet will be an open world in itself.
On these planets we will find everything from enemy bases that we are able to conquer for example, side missions, new enemys or places to discover and even bosses that we can fight.
All in all Mass Effect Andromeda promises to go back to its roots to refine the system that was established in the first game but was abandoned in later titles.
And to help us discovering this huge galaxy Bioware brought back our beloved friend the Mako which is now called Nomade and will be fully customizable.
And these are the big new features Mass Effect Andromeda showed until now, mixed with the old trusted Bioware formula it looks like Bioware really tried to push this franchise forward after the mediocre Dragon Age Inquisition.
Let´s hope they learned from their previous mistakes and return to us with an amazing game!
(This post will be when new features get announced so bookmark this page and subscribe to the blog for all future updates!)
