Numskull (Games) Preview
At this year’s Gamescom I had the pleasure to get a glimpse of Numskull (Games) upcoming stuff and plans, a long-time manufacturer and designer of video game merchandise who also just began making its first step into video game distribution and publishing!
First up is their just released and constantly expanding TUBBZ series, a cute take on delivering merchandise in form of ducks for not only the biggest video game heroes but also villains. Similar to Funko Pops, both in its price range and stylization, TUBBZ aims to bring a fresh and unique take to the market, that brims with life. While the overarching duck theme is pretty obvious, every character actually has its biggest features or movements in its duck form as well. So Ken still has his iconic punch, Spyro his dragon form (despite him being a duck now), you get the idea. This rather free approach to the theme is actually what got me interested in the series, as it doesn’t have one single design like Funko Pops, which is rather static to begin with, but clearly a vision to deliver really dynamic, cute merch.
Naturally, all the features aren’t painted on the figures but first sculpted out, making them see really high quality for the affordable price and they even come with cute little tubb(z). Honestly, for everyone that can get comfortable with the idea, I found TUBBZ a really cute little idea I could get behind.
TUBBZ is available now here with new series coming in the coming months
On the other hand, Numskull also got into publishing and distribution now, a move I found quite surprising considering they’re mainly a merchandise company that manufactures tons of stuff for new game releases. Ranging from statures that breath real smoke, high-quality micro arcades to your more classic backpacks and alike, as well as third party accessories for consoles you might find in Media Markt or your country’s equivalent.
So Numskull Games is already off to a good start
